The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.
Happy Sunday!
I had my sister and her husband over for dinner on Friday night so I did a bunch of housecleaning and cooking. We used some of my canned apple pie filling for apple pies.
It rained off and on all last week, which was nice for the garden but made it hard to get out on our walks. It finally cleared yesterday and we got out early and then did a bunch of weeding and cleanup made easier by the rain. We ate dinner out by the Solo Stove last night.
I've been seeing Red-winged Blackbirds, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Oak Titmouse and of course the ever present Stellar Jays in the garden this week. We bought my MIL a birdhouse that has a camera in it and it records whenever a bird lands and gives an identification. It's pretty neat and we can see the feed from out phone, too. It was quite the project to get it up and running for my husband. He regrets having it sent and not being there in person to get it running as he had to tell his mom what to do over the phone. At any rate, we might get one for our house.

ReplyDeleteI did!
DeleteAwesome week!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI love birds! Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing them in the yard. Thanks! You too!
DeleteThose are great bird photos. I have a friend who has one of those camera feeders and she loves it. I'm looking forward to reading Moss'd in Space in June, I hope.
ReplyDeleteI got the bird photos off of PhotoGrid a photo editing app. I hope we both love Moss'd in Space!
DeleteThat bird house with camera would be interesting. I don't do bird feeders- it would just attract squirrels and bird poop. So great to have you on the chat. It's getting to the good stuff now.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Our cats keep the squirrels at bay and the bird poop just goes into the grass, so we don't notice it. I was happy to finally be able to attend! I hope to go to the next one. I have to check the date. We may be in Montana and if so there's no telling if I'll be able to make it.
DeleteYou have an enchanting spot in your yard
ReplyDeleteThank you! I do love it here!
DeleteThat camera is a neat idea! especially since it even identifies the bird species. If you get all the ones you posted pics of, you're lucky, because they look so adorable.
ReplyDeleteOK...no more rain for a while now, I guess it's not much to ask LOL. (Though at least you didn't get heat, I assume...).
I used Photogrid for the bird photos above, not my MIL's camera, but the photo feed from her camera is pretty neat! We didn't get heat with the rain. It was cold and unusual for May!
DeleteI like the sound of that birdhouse camera! And Kill All Wizards looks like a fun read. Hope you have a great week. :D
ReplyDeleteI do too! I think We'll get one for our yard at some point. Thanks! You too, Lark! :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful gift for your MIL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your week
I hope she likes it!
DeleteI would love one of the bird feeders with the cameras! You had some good reads this past week as well. We've had a ton of rain this week as well, but we needed it, so trying not to complain. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the rain. Growing up in Southern California where we had little rain I think made it so I'm never not grateful for the rain we get here in Northern California! You, too, Lisa!
DeleteGreat bird photos. I wish my sister lived closer. Although I did just get to spend two long weekends with my family, so that is good!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy my sister lives close. It sounded like you had a good time together!
DeleteWe had a nice reprieve from the rain this week, so I spent lots of time out in the yard, making meals on the smoker, pulling weeds (does it ever end?), and also spending some time by the solo stove. The only problem with that last part is it is just too hot for a fire!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice weeding right after the rain. If weeding can be nice, lol! It's been warm here, too, but it's always chilly in the evening so it makes the solo stove nice. Hope you get to enjoy yours more, Ethan!
DeleteSuch pretty birds! So cool
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty! I wish I had a good camera to take birding photos. I got the photos from my photo editing app: Photogrid.
DeleteI wish I had more of a variety of birds to watch. We have starlings, sparrows, robins and cowbirds. I do see mourning doves, the occasional blue jay and cardinal, as well. We had a lot of rain in the first half of May, but it is getting dry now. I would like rain more regularly. That fire looks lovely. I hope you're having a good week, rachel.
ReplyDeleteCute puzzle. And I'm glad you mentioned the Solo Stove ... I think my husband would be interested to get one. Does it put out a lot of heat and is good? Perhaps we could put it on our deck. The birdhouse gadget also seems good. We had an interesting small bird at the feeder this week a Lazuli Bunting ... with a blue head ... such a treat for us. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe solo stove is wonderful! It puts off a lot of heat with little or no smoke. I highly recommend it! I don't think I've seen a Lazuli Bunting. I wonder if they're in Montana. I'll headed up there soon!
DeleteNice to have a fireside meal. The birds are so pretty! I have no idea what's out and about by me, but they make a lot of music
ReplyDeleteI do love enjoying the outdoors whenever we can! I didn't know much about birds and really still don't but I bought a book that helps me identify the birds in the area. It's fun!
