About the book:

From Audie Award winning, New York Times best-selling author Kylie Scott comes an irresistible new romance - available in audio first!

When a vicious attack leaves 25-year-old Clementine Johns with no memory, she's forced to start over. Now she has to figure out who she was and why she made the choices she did - which includes leaving the supposed love of her life, tattoo artist Ed Larsen, only a month before.

Ed can hardly believe it when his ex shows up at his tattoo parlor with no memory of their past, asking about the breakup that nearly destroyed him. The last thing he needs is more heartache, but he can't seem to let her go again.

Should they walk away for good, or does their love deserve a repeat performance?

Listening Length: 6 hours and 47 minutes

My Thoughts:
So I’ve never read anything by Kylie Scott, but this story captured my attention when Lindsi featured it on her Can’t Wait Wednesday post.  There’s something about a second chance romance that grabs me every time, but there’s a twist with this one because the hero and heroine split up in a nasty, heart-shattering breakup, but then the heroine is attacked and forgets everything!

Clementine is trying to piece together her previous life after losing all her memories; she can scramble and egg, drive a car, but doesn’t remember people or relationships. She shows up at Ed’s tattoo shop to ask about her tattoo and finds out that she and Ed used to date, seriously, until she dumped him, and broke both their hearts. This was a total scorched earth kind of break-up and Ed is pissed to see her until he finds out about the attack. Sure, he’s still got the walls up, but he agrees to answer her questions about their previous life. Even though Clementine doesn’t remember their relationship, her body and heart are immediately drawn to Ed, and it just felt like a meant-to-be, fated romance, no matter what happened in the past.

Clementine is different this time around, the brain injury has made it so she doesn’t have as many filters, inhibitions, or impulse controls, so a lot of times she just speaks whatever is on her mind, damn the consequences.  This is actually a good thing, because non-communication was an issue for the past ED and Clementine.

This is my first experience reading Kylie Scott, but it won’t be my last. Clementine and Ed’s story was emotional and HOT! Their chemistry was off the charts, and the story was so engrossing I finished this audio book within a 24-hour period despite having to work and attend to real-life. I HAD to know what happened to Ed and Clementine the first time around, if they’d make it now, and even though I had a good idea who was responsible for her attack, I had to know how it’d all play out!

Andi Arndt’s performance was brilliant! I loved the matter-of-fact way she did Clementine’s voice, it was so fitting given Clem’s state of mind, so clinical and analyzing at times, and just honest. So refreshing.  Her portrayal of Ed was wonderful as well, and I’d be even more inclined to pick up a book if I knew Ms. Arndt would be narrating.

Review: Lead (Stage Dive #3) by Kylie Scott

Lead (Stage Dive #3) by Kylie Scott
Published November 25th 2014 by St. Martin's Griffin
Stay up all night with the sexy rockers in Stage Dive, the epic New Adult series from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, author of Lick and Play.

As the lead singer of Stage Dive, Jimmy is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, whether it's booze, drugs, or women. However, when a PR disaster serves as a wake-up call about his life and lands him in rehab, he finds himself with Lena, a new assistant to keep him out of trouble.

Lena's not willing to take any crap from the sexy rocker and is determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry. But when Jimmy pushes her too far and Lena leaves, he realizes that he may just have lost the best thing that ever happened to him.
My Thoughts
Clearly I’m enjoying this series seeing as I’m blowing through the books like water. This latest installment of the Stage Dive series is probably my favorite so far. Just when I thought broody, damaged, tatted bad boys were overrated, Kylie Scott recreates a whole new way to tell the story.

In Lead, we get to meet the lead singer of Stage Dive. Jimmy is just recovering from a long battle with substance abuse, and on the advent of a tour and new album, his recording label is adamant about him staying clean and sober. The band convinces hot-headed Lena to take on the assignment of Jimmy’s sobriety coach to ensure he doesn’t fall off of the wagon or create any bad publicity for the group.

From the beginning, Lena and Jimmy clash in all the right ways. She is open and honest with Jimmy, and most importantly she doesn’t put up with his bullshit. However, the more time she spends around Jimmy, the more her heart begins to soften for the rock star. Jimmy is a hard nut to crack, but even he is not immune to developing feeling for Lena the more they spend time together.

I definitely enjoyed this book much more than the first two installments. Lena and Jimmy’s moments never felt contrived or over the top. I loved Jimmy’s rough and angry moments. For an odd reason, I found them endearing. Most importantly, I enjoyed seeing Lena never being phased by his attitude or reactions. Together, they just worked really well.

I’m looking forward to the next installment, Kylie Scott seems to have hit a stride with me and I’m eager to see how this series continues to develop. I enjoyed it much!

Review: Play (Stage Dive #2) by Kylie Scott

Play (Stage Dive #2) by Kylie Scott
Published March 25th 2014 by St. Martin's Griffin
Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller Lick.

Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn't plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn't count on finding the one right girl.

Anne Rollins never thought she'd ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn't end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

My Thoughts
Play is the second installment of the Stage Dive series, and like the first novel, it's filled with steamy moments and gorgeous rockstars.

Mal Ericson is the drummer of Stage Dive. He's confident, sexy and knows what he wants. However, being in a rock band comes with wild partying and hard drinking. Couple that with an inner struggle to deal with his mother's illness, Mal balances on the side of volitile.

Anne Rollins has had to take care of her sister since she was young. After having her father abandon them and her mother battling with depression, Anne's lost out on the chance of going to college and enjoying her life. She focuses on making sure her sister has what she needs, so she lives with the bare minimum. So, when her roommate takes off leaving Anne with back rent and no furniture, she has to reevaluate a new plan.

When Mal propositions Anne to pose as his girlfriend, she accepts the opportunity as a way of making ends meet, but what soon ensues are sparks and promises that leave them both winded.

There wasn't much to this story that I haven't seen before. It was entertaining to a mild degree, but I would have liked more development of their characters so I could come to like them a bit more. Mal sure knew how to flex his cocky side... no pun intended. However, I wish Anne would have given him a run for his money. Reese's part in this whole story confused me because it seemed his part was to simply make Mal jealous and show his crazy side even more.

Overall, not much to this book. Maybe the next installment will have more substance to the story.

Review: Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott

Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott (Goodreads Author)
Published May 6th 2014 by St. Martin's Griffin
Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

In Kyle Scott's Lick, one thing is certain: being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.

My Thoughts
If finishing Lick by Kylie Scott in one short day is any indication that I enjoyed this book, then yes, I shamelessly admit that I really liked this novel. Now, it’s not without a few flaws, but when the hot and handsome rock star David Ferris entered the scene, I threw all sense to the wind and just went with this wild and erratic romance.

When Evelyn Thomas heads to Las Vegas to celebrate her twenty-first birthday, she finds herself slap-ass drunk and hung-over the next morning. To add to her pounding headache, she soon learns that she got hitched to a famous rock star and has no clue how it happened. David Ferris sees things differently. He’s excited about the possibilities, but as soon as he realizes Evelyn wants nothing to do with this huge mistake, he walks out and gets the wheels in motion to annul their marriage.

Now under normal circumstances, I’d chalk this romance up as an over-the-top attempt to repurpose what I’ve seen and read before. However, I think Kylie Scott just caught me at the right time and the right moment because I just went with it and plowed through the story to see if these two could make it work.

It also helped that I liked both characters to a more than mild degree. I appreciated Evelyn’s sense to walk away and not take advantage of the situation she was in and I fell for David’s attempts to win the girl. It didn’t escape me that their romance was rushed and sudden, but I’m a sucker for romance sometimes and I handed it to them for winning me over so easily.

I’ve already reserved the next few books from the library, so yes.. Kylie Scott caught my attention. I can’t wait to read about the other members of the band.
