About the book:

From the New York Times bestselling author of Claimed comes the second enticingly erotic novel set in a world on the brink of chaos.

Lennox used to live in a paradise on earth with his best friend Jamie, in a place where visitors came and went, allowing their desires to run free. But everything changes when a deadly attack forces them to take up with Connor Mackenzie’s band of Outlaws. Lennox knows Jamie is hung up on someone else, but he’s always believed he’s the man for her—and won’t let her go without a fight.

Even though Jamie is well aware that Lennox is one hot specimen of a man, she refuses to let sex ruin the most important relationship in her life. But when the object of her interest spurns her, she indulges in a little pleasure-filled revenge with her very magnetic, very willing best friend. One thrilling night with Lennox is enough to awaken Jamie’s unexpected desires for him. And now that she’s had a taste, she’s not sure she can ever give him up...

My Thoughts:
Lennox has been attracted to Jamie ever since they were kids growing up in the same camp, but she’s the most important person in his life, and he’s never wanted jeopardize their friendship with a romance. He’s seen her through countless boyfriends and hookups, but held back in claiming her.  Jamie being stuck on Rylan chaps his hide, but Lennox doesn’t have the right to voice any complaints.  One drunken night, Lennox steps over the line with Jamie, and that changes everything. He’s worried about the consequences, but can no longer hold back. Once that door was opened there was no going back for either of them.

Jamie wanted Lennox long ago, but he always treated her like a sister so she shut her romantic feelings down, otherwise she’d have a shattered heart.  Years of thinking of him as a friend changes with one night of passion, and Jamie knows she can’t ignore those long buried desires anymore.  The change in the relationship has Lennox going on hyper drive with his protective instincts which causes some bumps in their relationship, but I had little doubt with their history they’d be able to settle in.

I loved Addicted even more than the first book, Claimed.  Unrequited love is one of my favorite types of romance, and the strong bond that Jamie and Lennox shared just made the transition from friends to lovers even hotter!  Jamie and Lennox so obviously loved each other and had such a history that it only took a little nudge to light their connection on fire!

Coupling is not traditional in this post-apocalyptic world Elle Kennedy has created, so multiples are a frequent feature in this series. While this usually makes for some scenes that could light your panties on fire, I often have a hard time believing that the couple with last long term if there more than two people involved, but Ms. Kennedy managed to pull it off beautifully!  Lennox and Jamie’s romance was written in such a way that we got the extra hotness, and yet I didn’t question the integrity of their relationship. Once they were together, no one else factored in.

The Outlaws series is more than romance/erotica. Danger, and suspense are weaved through to make for an addictive, unputdownable read!  The people who choose to live outside the Global Council’s established cities are at risk from their Enforcers, and they do cause a lot of trouble in this installment.  Then there are the bandits who don’t care about anyone, raping, pillaging as they go. It’s a brutal world, and this is why Reese, the ruthless leader of Foxworth, asks Connor to lend some of his men, Lennox, Pike, and Rylan to come train her people in combat, because trouble is a-brewing, and Reese has plans.  Things got intense in Addicted, and I expect the danger will only increase in the next book.

While Jamie and Lennox were the focus of Addicted, Rylan and Reese dance around their attraction through the entire book.  Rylan wants Reese and she doesn’t disguise her hostility towards him.  I can’t wait for their book, Ruled, next!

  1. Gratuitous threesomes don't do much for me but if they are essential to the story I love them! =D
Thanks for the post and your thoughts. I have not read the first book but you have me excited to read these now! =D

    1. I don't read many stories with them either, but it seems like lately I've had a run of them, lol! (I have a review of another one coming next month). They do make for a super hot read, but I always wonder about the chances at long-term...

  3. FAB review, Rachel! I LOVE Elle Kennedy and this is one series I haven't started by her yet. I'm hoping I can get to it soon. I love the dystopian aspect to it and of course the hot romance. ;P So happy you enjoyed! :D xoxo

Q: As for threesomes, I'm ok with it as long as there is a balance. If I feel as if the girl is just a side character in the menage (even though I love MM), I can't read those. The emotions have to be there for me personally. :)

    1. Thank you, Maida! xoxo I know you love Elle Kennedy just as much as I do. This is a little spicier than her Killer Instincts series, and I think you'll love it!

I totally agree! I just read a book like that and the girl did sort of feel like a side character when she was very much the main character to me. I would've been happier if the threesome wasn't included. :(

  8. It depends on the characters and story. Sometimes it only works better in the short term, rather than leading towards a HEA.

  9. Honestly it being with 2 men is one of my fantasies. It will stay that way since the man is definitely not on board, so I actually usually really like them depending on the story!

  10. I enjoy them as long as I feel like it's important to the story. Despite how hot they are I don't want them thrown in just for shock value.
