Sunday Post #87

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

All of California seems to be on fire. Sparked by lightening storms there are now more that 900,000 acres burned, the area bigger than the size of Rhode Island! Southern California, where I live, is finally getting some of the fires contained, but Northern California, where I am currently, is still pretty out of control. My thoughts and prayers go out to affected and especially to the firefighters! The temperatures have been way over triple digits for the last week and I can't imagine being outside with all that gear on! Very dangerous. The air quality is very bad! Here's a picture of the air on our drive up to our daughter's. So eerie!

The Last Widow was intense and I had to skip ahead to make sure something didn't happen before settle in and read *listen* without being stressed out. Loved it! Love Will and Sara together! Life and Limb wasn't my favorite Freya Barker, but it was entertaining enough. Pleasantly surprised by Laura Drake's Cowboy For Keeps!

I was excited to get a copy o f Blacklisted! It's the "good girl matched up with bad boy" romance troupe and I can't wait. I had to buy a copy of The Silent Wife after finishing The Last Widow. E-copy and audio book. Both The End of the World Running Club and The Last featured on Heather's Top Ten Tuesday and they sounded really good so I downloaded library audio copies.

Yep, back to Heartland.

How was your week?

  2. The high temps and fires are devastating. I am so worried about them. I LOVE Karin Slaughter. I hope you stay safe and get your activity without being out in the heat and smoky air.

  4. I've been watching those fires closely because I have relatives in NorCal. It's insane. Glad you are safe. And, yes! Shout out to the firefighters!
I was excited to grab Blacklisted, too. :)

  5. I hope you are able to stay safe in all the fires. I've spent a lot of time in the San Jose area and was crushed to see the blaze take over the Big Basin Park.

    1. Yes, I'm saddened by that park too. So many old trees! Armstrong Woods is closed too and it has me worried.

  6. That picture- oh my gosh! I am so sorry for everyone in the line of fire. I was talking to someone earlier about all the lightning sparked fires and they were fairly close to them but safe at the moment. I can't imagine fighting the fires in those temps either. Absolutely crazy.

Be safe and take care where you are!!

  8. Oh my! That photo is scary! My husband and I travel with his job. We're currently located in Oregon but we were in Southern California from January-April. We were talking about going back to California in October but I've been hesitant because I know that's prime fire season. I hope you and your family and your houses stay safe! Enjoy your week!

    1. I love Oregon! Nice that you get to spend time there. They might die down by October. Fingers crossed. Thank you. You too!

  9. I've been seeing a lot about the fires on the news. That photo you shared is so scary. Looks like something out of a movie. I can't imagine the conditions the firefighters are working under. :(

    1. Yes, it does seem like the last 5 years our fires have been horrible.

I haven't watched Below Deck. Heartland makes me happy. :)

  13. All that smoke from those fires in California has been drifting into Utah for the last week. It's been nasty. (Though much worse for you!) At least we've got a bit of blue skies today. I hope they're able to get the fires out soon!

    1. The smoke has been drifting over a lot of states. I hate the smoke! It's disturbing and I feel couped up because it's not really safe to do any outdoorsy things.

    Hope you all stay safe!
