Sunday Post #91

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

I'm up in Mendocino for a long weekend and it's one of my favorite places on Earth!  So happy to be out of the smoke and triple digit heat (yes, Southern California is that hot again!).  I took the picture below in the late afternoon yesterday so you can't make out the ocean in the distance that well because the mist started rolling in, but I was in heaven reading with my glass of wine!

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and Kulti will always be my favorite Mariana Zapata books but The Best Thing was classic Zapata and I enjoyed it. Someone to Romance was another win, and I just loved All Scot and Bothered! Well Played was sweet and I liked it even more than the first book! I'm excited for April and Mitch's story next!

Wildflower Road, Wrong Alibi, and The Drifter are all from new-to-me authors. I'm looking forward to reading them! I really enjoyed The Guest List by Lucy Foley's so I'm looking forward to The Hunting Party. Her writing reminds me a little of Agatha Christie's stories and I like it!

Watched:
Not much except parts of the disaster aka: The Presidential Debate. OMG What a train-wreck! Truly painful to watch. I've switched off on my vacation up here in the Pacific Northwest. Lovely!

How was your week?

  1. Beautiful pic! I love the ocean in the background (I might not have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it) with the mist... very nice. Looks like a wonderfully relaxing place to read. :)

  2. Rachel, a good book, glass of wine and no politics by the sea sounds perfect! I hope you continue to enjoy your reading and your trip. Take care! 🙂

  3. It looks amazing where you are. Glad you are enjoying your time there and getting some relief from the smoke and heat in your area. I have a feeling Mitch and April will be my favorite couple. There is something about Mitch and I feel like he will have a great backstory, and we know about April. The bits of them together have me chomping at the bit for their story

  4. Where is Mendocino? Never even heard of it! But it does seem lovely! We were also on holiday last week and it was sooo good to just get away for a bit.

The Hunting Party is on my TBR list, will most probably stay there until next year as I have soooo many books to still finish this year!

Hope you will have a good week with lots of happy hours reading.

  6. That photo is just divine, Rachel. Looks like something out of a travel magazine. :) So glad you're enjoying your getaway. I'm excited for Well Played and I love seeing that you enjoyed it even more than the first. Now if my library hold for it would come in. :)

  7. It's nice you were able to get away for a bit! The picture is lovely! I haven't read Well Met, but I definitely want to get to it and Well Played soon! I've only heard really good things about the series. I think The Best Thing is on my TBR, but I'm definitely adding it if it's not. ;)

  9. Great week you had! I'm actually glad that I didn't watch the Presidential debate. After hearing how horrible it was, I just didn't bother to watch it.

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

  12. Mendocino looks lovely! And unharmed by the fires, thank goodness.

I agree with you on the debate; the clips I saw were quite enough for me.

  13. Awesome pic! I'd like to be there. The debate was ridiculous. I watched the one from SC with Jaime Harrison and Lyndsey Graham today and while it was better controlled, it was still kind of stupid. I don't live in SC. I just get tired of politicians, of either party, saying what they think we want to hear and then just doing whatever they want later.

Enjoy your relaxing time with books and wine!

  17. Yay for fabulous (and beautiful!) retreats! I could use some good clean mountain air right now! Thankfully most of the smoke is gone again and I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way.

  18. Gorgeous photo! I've only read one Mariana Zapata book and loved it. I have had The wall of Winnipeg and me on my TBR list forever. I've heard such good things about it so I have really high expectations for it.

I hope you have a wonderful week.
