The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
My husband finished the backsplash last week, so I finally I have my before and after photos of my kitchen remodel! There are a few things we still need to do like the overhead light. We'll remove the dated plastic cover over fluorescents and replace with can lightening and the side of the bar will get some wood trim accents, but mostly it's done and I love it!

We also replaced our windows and sliding glass door, an improvement we didn't plan on doing, but made such a big difference!
Now, onto books!

All three were big wins. Both The Santa Suit and Rancher's Christmas Storm were novella length and quick reads. Beneath Devil's Bridge was hard to put down!

I'm eager for both!

How was your week?
Wow, Rachel, your kitchen looks beautiful. I liked it before but with the new white units and backsplash tiles, your kitchen looks lighter, airy and fresher. You've got great taste.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fab week enjoying your new space. 💚
Thank you, Flora! I love the brighter white, especially since our kitchen is so small. It makes it feel bigger. :)
DeleteWow! What an amazing transformation. After living in FL, I like the lighter colors. Makes everything seem bigger and more open. The new appliances are nice too. Oh, yeah! We will both be reading the new Jamieson. Hope it's a winner!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sam! Yes, our kitchen is small so the brighter color feels more airy and open. I'm looking forward to the new Jamieson! I think I'll read it soon.

DeleteYour kitchen is a thing of beauty, Rachel! Absolutely love the white cabinetry. It really opens up the space. And the new appliances. The can lighting will look great, too. What a transformation! I'm really intrigued by The Book of Cold Cases.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tanya! I'm so thrilled with the update.
DeleteI'm looking forward to the new St. James! It'd be a perfect Fall/Halloween read, but it doesn't release until next year.
oh wow.....I really love the look of white, it just changes how everything else looks right? I would be in the kitchen all the TIME! LOL
ReplyDeleteIt makes such big difference! Thanks, Renee!
Deleteyou have my kitchen. LOL we had planned on remodeling last year. were going to do it in the spring, then covid. then mr wonderful's position at work was eliminated. whether we will ever remodel or not????

I've been wanting to update our kitchen for so many years. I'm sure you'll get to yours someday, too! :)
DeleteWow your kitchen is stunning! Did your husband do all of the renovation himself? I'm really looking forward to the new Simone St. James, eagerly waiting for my netgalley request to be approved!
ReplyDeleteHe did everything except for the removal of tile, the quartz fabrication and installation. Out of all the costs, the fabrication was the most expensive thing in the kitchen. My husband wanted to hire someone to do the backsplash tile but we couldn't get anyone to commit. He's really handy so he looked up a YouTube video and did it himself. We had already purchased the material and laid it out.
DeleteHope you get your approval soon!
Thanks for sharing the kitchen photos! I especially like the new countertop. We are going from white to wood, so the opposite there. But with better placement and pullouts. Love the new appliances too.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Loreth Anne White also.
Anne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Also I love hardwood floor in a kitchen.
DeleteYeah, we've had the wood for the last 21 years so I wanted a change and a brighter space. I'd love to see how yours turns out, too, Anne! It's a big project but the kitchen is such an important and well used space, so worth the effort.
DeleteShe's so good, right?
The kitchen looks fantastic. I love how open and airy it looks!
