Sunday Post #184

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.

It's been a week of cold rain and snow. Our highs last week were in the 40s and lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. A new experience for me being from Southern California. I love it! Cozy nights with the wood burning stove going. Perfect reading weather.  I'm wearing sweaters, scarves and coats. We warm up a little this week with highs in the 50s.

Our kitchen remodel is in full swing. The island and bottom cabinets are in. The top cabinets and hardware should go in Monday or Tuesday, but the countertops may not go in until after Thanksgiving *sobs*! We'll see what their schedule is.

This photo was on Tuesday and the photos below were on Thursday, so most of it melted in a couple of days:

Fall colors on my usual run by our house:

Grapevines on my usual run

Went on a four mile hike yesterday with my sister and her husband but didn't get any pictures cause we were too busy chatting. It was cold but very pretty.

  2. Thank you Rachel! I'm so happy to have your blog and become friendly with you. It looks like we will both have 50s this week. But we will only have 1-2 days of snow a year and I think you might have more.

    1. Me too, Anne! We have very similar tastes in books and I always enjoy hearing your life updates on our Sunday Posts! Yes, we do have more snow days I think, but not as bad as somewhere like Montana or Minnesota (your prior residence!). I like a little bit of it but I wouldn't like a bunch.

  3. Some beautiful fall photos! It's such a pretty time of year, if the snow can just hold off. Here in Seattle we've had some nice sunny days but COLD (for here) with highs in the low 40s. Looks like you had a productive reading week - hope you enjoy more books this week!

  5. We had some unusually warm temps due to the residual effects of Nicole, but I loved it. I got to read outside in November. It's back to fall around here today though. Beautiful pics. Nothing like some brisk, fresh air and great scenery

    1. Just for a couple of days. It was pretty. I'm glad it didn't stick for long. My cat hates being cooped up in the house and I don't like to drive in it! You, too, Kimberly!

  8. I am in no hurry to see snow here with the energy crisis and all! Funny how when you become adult you think more about the bills than the pleasure of walking in the snow ;-)

  9. Beautiful pics! Love that first one with the snow :) We got a little dusting too and it's 38 right now. Welcome to the cold lol. Seriously though, that must be a bit of an adjustment after southern CA. I like fall it helps me get in the holiday season... but after the holidays I'm ready for warm :)

    1. It is an adjustment. I don't think we get that much snow here, but I might be ready for warmer weather after the holidays. I think it's cold for a good two months after, though.

    1. It's warming up here this week. My cat will be happy. He's not been a fan of this cold weather. Cuts into his hunting/exploring time. :)

  11. Some parts of my area got snow this weekend but it skipped us. The colors are gorgeous! Most of the leaves are gone in my neighborhood. I am crossing my fingers that you will have countertops in time for the holiday.

    1. Yeah, we lost the leaves on three of our colorful trees. Still have two that are really pretty. I hope so too, but even if they're not here I'm having turkey dinner with friends and my sister at their house. It's just a hassle not having a sink in the kitchen. Makes cooking inconvenient.

  12. Loving all the fall pics! We finally had a real cold front blow in this weekend, so I got to light my fireplace for the first time. It has certainly helped get me more into a holiday spirit. My tree arrives next week!
