The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.
I meant to do this post up early yesterday but got caught up in chores and making dessert (pear & apple crisp) to take to my sister's house. Of course, I forgot the dessert on the counter! We ate it last night when we got home. I couldn't sleep a lot of the night and got back to sleep about 6am and woke up about 8:45am.
The week was a usual one, work and such. It's been warm here in the low 90s but cooling off quickly with the shorter days. It's been a low of 50 most nights. This week is supposed to be cooler with highs in the upper 70s and rain in the forecast. We'll see.
My apples are ripe and I figured out one of them are a green variety, so I have one red and one green. My "Picture This" app said both were the variety "Paradise" so I guess that's not completely right. I've looked up some recipes for canning apple pie filling and will be doing that on Tuesday.
My garden is really blooming now that it's cooler and my flowers are getting fried. We have had a lot of Hummingbird Moth this summer. Didn't see them at all last year.
I think we're headed for Texas on Thursday to see my daughter. I need to book the flights. She lives outside of Austin. Kind of last minute trip.

Love this cover!
How was your week?
Your photo of book and coffee in a colorful mug is a pretty one!

That 90 day / 50 night is a big range for a day. We only have about a 15-20 degree range. We finally did cool down to 80 day /60 night which is lovely. You got some great reads and I do like seeing your ratings. It's so fun you have apples! I always wanted to have one and make cider and fruit desserts are my favorite.

OMG! That is the worst when you forget to bring something with you. I guess it's not the worst that you had to eat it all on your own. I love that you are so inspired by your apples. It's fun way to channel some energy, and you have something great at the end of it all. I like seeing ratings. I am sad when people don't put stars on their reviews.
ReplyDeleteI love your porch! I wish I had a roof on my back patio so I could sit outside in the rain and enjoy it. But I don't, so it's also hot in the sun too. I need to read Fourth Wing soon. I have done the thing of making some food to take to an event and then forgetting it with all the other things I had to take. Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteLOL, leaving the dessert behind after making it to take with me is something I'd do. Your apples look good and love the pic of your porch reading. Hope your trip goes well.
ReplyDeleteI like seeing your ratings like that. And, yay for the new Havens Rock book.
Have a good week, Rachel!
I love those mornings in the 50's. And don't you hate it when you forget something like that! At least you got to enjoy it later. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh a new Christina Henry! I need Hemlock Island too.
I can't wait for cooler weather. I sleep better and feel better overall when the temps aren't in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen nor heard of a Butterfly Moth. That's beautiful. We occasionally see Hummingbird Moths.
Enjoy your quick trip to Austin.
I'm looking forward to Hemlock Island and Fourth Wing - just waitng on my library. Glad to see you enjoyed them.

I can't believe it's dipping into the 50's at night! That sounds fabulous. The pic from your porch is so pretty. Hope you have a great visit with your daughter. (And I do like seeing your ratings.)
ReplyDeleteIt's dipping even lower now, but the high is lower too. Thank you, Tanya. We've been having great time!
DeleteOK so that's a hummingbird moth! I saw some when we were in Colorado years ago and I wondered what they were!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen them before, either Sophie!
DeleteWitch of Wild Things keeps catching my eye! It sounds really good. And apple and pear crisp sounds delicious! I am loving this fall weather.
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious! I'm loving the fall weather too, although not right at this moment since we're in Texas and it's hot!
DeleteCanning some apple pie filling is such a good idea.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy week and some good books read. Great pics. Enjoy your trip.sherry @ fundinmental
