It's been a busy week. Worked an extra day and then was asked to work an extra day next week, too. On my days off I made up apple pie filling with the apples from our trees and plum jam with plums from our neighbor and canned them. I also got out on a run three times. By Friday I was beat.
Went to dinner with my sister and her husband after work on Friday to a local rustic dinner place that has best fried zucchini served ranch dressing. So happy I didn't have to cook or cleanup.
Today (Saturday) has been raining off and on all day. The leaves are changing all around, beautiful red, orange and yellows all around town.

I grabbed a copy of Here With Me on Kindle Unlimited after seeing Tanya's review. Blood Sisters was pitched as similar to Longmire so I couldn't resist. Loved the sound of this gothic mystery: The Curse of Penryth Hall. Love, Just In sounded like an emotional friends-to-lovers romance.

There is nothing better than having someone take care of dinner and the dishes when you are worn down by the week. Sounds like you had good company too. I love that you are taking nature's bounty and making so many delectable treats. I hope you enjoy them all

DeleteI recall my gran's homemade apple pies with huge nostalgia - I've never eaten any that have come close, ditto her rice and macaroni puddings. And I completely agree that it's a real treat when you don't have to do the dishes after the meal. Have a great week:).

ReplyDeleteI love that you have fresh fruit grown at home. I've made jam but never done canning. I have done some freezing. We are still learning how the growing season works here in NC rather than MN. I also got Blood Sisters and am interested to see how it goes. I like books with some cultural diversity.

Plum jam and apple pie filling sounds yummy! My mom used to make plum jelly every year until our plum tree died. It was so good. :D Hope you have a good week this week!
ReplyDeleteI miss having fruit trees around where I could pick some and make a pie or some jam. We had so many fruit trees in California where I grew up.

ReplyDeleteFried Zucchini is one of my absolute favorites. Yum! It's also nostalgic for me since my husband and I had fried zucchini on our first date 32 years ago. :) I hope you will love Here With Me when you get to it, Rachel. I enjoyed it so much and already can't wait for the next book.
