Sunday Post #233

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week. I'm also linking up to The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb Nance @Readerbuzz.

I am home and plan to stay home until after Christmas, so yay! I have one more week of working extra days this next week. I spent a good chunk of time on CME's (continuing medical education unites) to maintain my registry, due by 12/31. I still have 12 (hours) to go. My left shoulder and right elbow and wrist have been killing me. My left shoulder is something I've been dealing with for years thanks to my job, but the right wrist elbow, pinkie and ring finger are new. I'm told I have "trigger finger" and possible carpel tunnel syndrome. Whatever it is, it hurts. My old PT exercises help my shoulder. Trying to figure out what to do about the new issues. On top of that I had a migraine that just would not quit on Wednesday.

We raked a ton of leaves, filled out yard waste bin, and then five large trash bags full that'll go into the yard waste bin once this batch gets picked up. There's still a ton of leaves.

Took my sister and her husband out to dinner for their anniversary tonight (Saturday). It was a fun night.

I listened to Always Only You a couple of years ago, but Berkley acquired it and has re-released with this pretty cover. I'll re-read since it was a fun hockey romance. I'm looking forward to Breakout by Aven Ellis, a new-to-me-author. Another hockey romance.

Thank you to Berkley and Tantor Media!

  5. I hope you feel better soon! I have carpel tunnel in both wrists. Sometimes my arms feel like painful noodles. They just dangle and don't work. Luckily, it seems to get better as the day goes on. It's always the worst in the morning.

    1. I thought having it in one wrist was bad! I'm sorry you deal with it in both! You describe it well, painful noodles. It's weird that the pain from it radiates down to my elbow. It's all a connected tendon, I guess. It is worse in the morning.

  7. Yay to being home until after Christmas! Some people in my neighborhood have whatever plant that is with the winter blooms. Indian paintbrush? Love it whatever it is. Love the puzzles and the kitty on the puzzles. lol I have various wrist, finger, full hand braces for my carpal tunnel or whatever it is I have and the pressure of whichever brace I'm wearing at the time really does help. Try a brace! Now I need to find one for my right elbow as whatever it is has traveled up there. :-D

    1. It is a bright spot in the winter landscape! Not much else is blooming around. I love puzzles. I have my puzzle kitty getting in the middle of it always! I will try and get a brace. Happy to hear it helps. I need something. Yes, the pain radiates into my elbow, too! No fun. :/

  9. I hope you are able to feel better soon. PT can be helpful for many things. It's lovely you are going to stay home for a bit. You are much more talented at puzzles than we are.

    1. So do I. I need to be more disciplined about doing my PT exercises. That should help my shoulder. Not sure what to do about my hand/wrist/elbow yet. I do a lot of puzzle. There's a method to it. :)

  13. I hope you are able to find some relief from your pain. I've had a couple of bouts of shoulder trouble, and yoga helped me a lot.

I'm glad to be at home, and I don't plan to go anywhere else for a while. I'm tired of traveling, too.

  19. Peanut looks so cute on your puzzle! And I'm sorry about the new pains in your right arm. That's no fun. Do you get some time off for Christmas to rest and recuperate?

    1. Thanks, Lark! :) Peanut is as usual too cute even when he's rolling in my puzzle so that I have to put it back together. Bad kitty! I will get some time off after this Friday. I hope the rest will help. It usually does. I need to keep up with my PT exercises too.

  20. I don't blame you for wanting some restful time at home after all your visits, travels, and overtime to work in your certification. Hopefully, you can get some relief from the new aches and pains hitting your elbow, hand, and finger. Wow, lots of leaves. I did my in-laws last week and filled several barrels and their yard waste bags and still had more to get up after did the gutters. :)

    Have a good week, Rachel!

  22. I totally get the shoulder pain as that is something I deal with all the time, but the arm, hand and pinkie pain must be hard. It does sound like it could be carpal tunnel. I hope you find some relief, Rachel. I love that puzzle you finished. What do you do with them after you finish? Enjoy your upcoming books.

    1. I think it is carpal tunnel from what I've been hearing. I hope so too! Thanks! I store my puzzles away in the attic after I finish. I've had a million Charles Wysocki for a long time and I go through and do them according to season or mood, but I've been getting a bunch of puzzles from New York Puzzle Company and some of Lawrence King's "world of" puzzles. They're a lot of fun.

  23. Sorry to hear about the finger/hand/wrist issues! And the migraine. My goodness, you need some relief. I enjoyed Always Only You. After 4-5 books I finally realized that Liese just wasn't for me, but Always Only You was the one I really enjoyed.

  24. That's a beautiful puzzle, wow. Glad you can have some time off work. it sounds like you need it so you can try to get rid of the carpal tunnel stuff. ugh. That's a pain to get rid of. See a PT person.
