The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated reviewer book blog, and is a post to recap my bookish and non-bookish things from the last week.
This week was filled with doctor visits. Finally got into a primary care physician up here and then he wrote up referrals so I can get several routine things taken care of. I also had preventative laser eye surgery in my right eye (I have narrow angle glaucoma) and will have the left eye done at the end of the month *sigh*. I hate going to the doctor, but it's a necessary evil.
We've had some nice, sunny days even though it's still cold with highs in the upper 40s low 50s. My cat has been enjoying the nicer weather by going in and out of the house every 5 seconds. He cries to go out, so I let him out for like ten minutes and then wants to come back in again. In and out, in and out. Bad kitty. Good thing I love him! We'll put in a cat door, like we had down south, eventually. Still, he'll need to be monitored when he goes outside because there's a lot of wildlife out here. Door will be closed off at night. He's very cautious, I think a characteristic of his breed (Manx), more than other cats I've had, but still.
Here he is, tired from all his excursions:
Read:
(Click on title for Goodreads link)
Still House was a novella length horror story from the Audible Plus catalog. Listened to the whole thing this afternoon. A little unsettling. Last Orphan was amazing! It was full length but I also listened to it in one day because I couldn't stop listening! So good! Someone Else's Shoe's was a bit of a disappointment for me. Kind of a downer for much of the book. Enjoyed Barbarian's Prize and The Earl of Christmas Past.
Received/Purchased/Library Lend:
I was excited to get approval for the audio copy of Murder at Haven's Rock! Still House was in the Audible Plus catalog and How to Sell a Haunted House is a library lend. Hope it doesn't scare me too much since I know it features dolls, my worst of scary, scary things for me!
How was your week?
That's good that he's cautious since you're in a wilder area. And I need to get caught up on Armstrong's series! I used to read them when they came out- not sure how I got behind! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful weekend.
It's one of my favorites! Hope you get a chance to catchup and enjoy them! You too, Greg!
DeleteStill House was unsettling. I too listened in a single evening. Winchester is an indoor cat, too many cars and foxes here.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was! Held my attention though! Not a lot of cars, but more wildlife. He's supervised while outside. We'd keep him in, but he'd go mad!
DeleteHe's a beautiful cat! I'm glad you've been able to find doctors and get your eyesight taken care of. It's always tough finding new providers when you have to move.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else's shoes seems interesting
ReplyDeleteIt was, but it was kind of a downer, too.
DeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed The Last Orphan. I'm really looking forward to it myself. Love that series.
ReplyDeleteYes! Glad to find another fan! It's one of my favorites! I look forward to every installment!
DeleteMy cat has absolutely loved the sunshine here as well, even though he doesn't go outside. He's been sunbathing like there's no tomorrow xD And I am also not a major fan of going to doctors but I am also super glad I have them for when things need to be taken care of! 'How To Sell a Haunted House' is absolutely on my list as well, it sounds so good! I hope you have a good week :)
ReplyDeleteJuli @ A Universe in Words
They do love basking in the sunshine! So true. We are fortunate to have doctors to help us! Hope we both love How to Sell a Haunted House! You too! :)
DeleteI have been seeing some less than stellar reviews for the Moyes book. I may suspend my hold because it's a little on the longer side for me, but doesn't sound worth it. I hope all the doctor's appointments go well, and that your cat settles in.
ReplyDeleteIt was a long book. A long time for these women to be in crappy situations. Kind of a downer to read about. Thanks! Me too!
DeleteI was curious about the Moyes novel also.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it more than I did. I enjoyed how it all turned out but it took a long time to get there!
DeleteAww, cute kitty. I'm glad he's cautious. The cats around here get eaten by coyotes. I hope your doctor appointments go well!
ReplyDeleteThere are coyotes out here too, but mostly at night. He's supervised while outside and we don't let him out at night. Thanks, AJ! :)
DeleteDoctors are a necessary evil as we get older that's for sure. Your cat is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI know. It sucks! Thanks, Sam. :)
DeleteMy dog does the same as your cat! In and Out!
ReplyDeleteIt's a game for him, lol! Just played it late this afternoon after I got home from work. No more after it got dark, though. :)
DeleteI have the first Orphan X on my bookshelves, waiting to start this series and I keep getting waylaid. This one sounds good....a nice moral dilemma! I read Murder at Haven's Rock last month and quite enjoyed it. It'll be fun to see how the new town grows. Enjoy!

Orphan X is so good, Terrie! I hope can fit it into your schedule soon. I'm listening to Murder at Haven's Rock starting Thursday and I'm so excited for it!

ReplyDeleteI also loved The Last Orphan but really Candy is out there too. I hope you love Murder at Haven's Rock as much as me too. Two series I find amazing. It won't really be spring here until mid March but I enjoyed the nice weather this week. oops I had last week's Sunday post
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Yay, Spring is a ways away from us. We had a snow flurry today! Nothing stuck but it is cold! They're two of my favorites as well!
DeleteYour cat's very handsome! And I so can't wait to get my hands on The Last Orphan! And Murder at Haven's Rock, too. I hope you have a good week this week! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! He's such a sweetie. I'm sure you're going to love the new Orphan X and I'm looking forward to Murder at Haven's Rock too! You too, Lark! :)
DeleteYour cat is so cute. I'm glad you were able to get the doctor stuff set up.
ReplyDeleteYour cat is so pretty! I wish I could put a doggie door for one of my dogs, but I have mini-dachshunds and won't let them be outside unless I'm with them. Worried about animals and such even with our fenced yard. I have only read the first Ice Planet Barbarian book, but need to read on because I loved it so much! Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteLisa Loves Literature
Thank you! Yes, the wildlife is a concern for us too. We would close it off as soon as it started getting dark. They're fun books! Hope you do too, Lisa!
DeleteI've gotten exercise with the whole in/out cat antsiness too. Glad you could get your primary care set up and get in your medical appointments again. Looks like you had some good audio listening this past week and hopefully your library loan won't get too freaky with the dolls.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, Rachel!
Yes, they are more antsy with the winter weather keeping them in so when it's nice he wants to go out. I have a bunch of drs appointments now. You, too, Sophia!
DeleteYour cat is so pretty! We have a dog that constantly wants to go inside and out so we've nicknamed him "In 'n Out Burger" I hope yo uhave a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy! Lol! That's a fitting name! You too, Wendy!
DeleteMy dogs love to play the in out game. It can be annoying! You got a lot of reading in this week! I really like Murder at Haven's Rock and hope you do as well!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's a common game for pets, lol! I'm starting it this Thursday and can't wait!
DeleteI have a cat that has this routine after breakfast and dinner he has to go out. It doesn't matter how cold it is, he has to patrol the outside of the house.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Yes! It seems our cat is on a similar schedule. Although, if it's really cold he will only put a toe out and turn right back around. Then sulk. You too!
DeleteAhh, I'm sorry you're sick again! We went through so many illnesses in January but were doing good for February up until TODAY when my son and husband both woke up feeling sick. This cold season is the worst! I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm not sick, just have routine visits I need to take care of. Was difficult with having a hard time locating a dr. that would take new patients up here. Oh bummer for you! Kids have a way of dragging home every bug and then gifting it to the family! Hope you feel better!
DeleteDolls are so scary!

Yes! I can't have any in the house!
DeleteGreat week there of reading. I am sorry to hear that you were under the weather though. But I had a fun time with that Ruby Dixon. So I am happy to hear that it was a keeper for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I wasn't sick just had to get referrals for all the fun routine stuff you need to do. Thanks, Renee!
DeleteGlad you're enjoying some nice weather and great books. I'm looking forward the the latest by Jojo Moyes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lucy! I hope the Jojo Moyes is a win for you.
DeleteAw, your cat is too cute. It was really nice weather here yesterday but now it's rainy/stormy all day and it'll get cold again. hah
ReplyDeleteLauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
Thanks! Glad to hear you got some decent weather before the rain. It's been beautiful weather here, but it's supposed to get super cold and snow this week. I guess winter isn't over yet...
DeleteI could do with some nice sunny days!
ReplyDeleteOh a manx!!! Isn't he beautiful? I had a manx once, too. She was, a seal-point, I think it's called, manx, but not Siamese seal point. LOL
ReplyDeleteLaser eye surgery sounds terrifying to me. I hope it's not, for you.
I love that darker pillow with trim.
Thanks! I think so and I love him to pieces. He was a rescue kitty so I thought he was just missing his tail somehow until someone told me he's a Manx and that's how they are. It wasn't too bad, just a little uncomfortable. Thanks! I bought it from Target a few years ago.
DeleteMy cat used to be an outdoor cat but he has gotten lazy in his old age. Your cat is beautiful. That's a bummer about the Jojo Moyes book. I've got it coming up soon so I'm hoping I'll have better luck with it.
ReplyDeleteThat's how it usually goes with cats. Thank you! He's a sweetheart, too. I know. I was really looking forward to it and I did like some parts of it, but it was just kind of depressing for a lot of the story. Hope you enjoy it more, Suzanne!
