Nothing exciting to report this week. We had my sister and her husband over for dinner and enjoyed catching up. I made comfort food, a chicken casserole with carrots, celery, onion in a cheesy sauce topped with cream cheese and chive rolled biscuits and apple pie for dessert.
I watched the new film adaptation of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero with Matthew Rhys. It was good with a beautiful setting and costumes. Better than some of the more recent adaptations. Almost down with Downton Abbey and will start in on the movies as soon as we finish.
It's been cold and rainy today will be the same for tomorrow. It's so green and so many things are blooming: dogwood, lilac and our front field is full of yellow flowers. I did chores and a puzzle while listening to an audiobook.

How was your week?
Love the lilacs. They finish too quickly. We aren't getting much rain here. I'm doing some watering. Glad you enjoyed Fate's Edge. The Steel's Edge chat is today and then we start the newer Innkeeper.

DeleteThe casserole sounds good! They're usually so easy to make, and then for me I have easy leftovers, often I can freeze part of it so I don't get bored too soon. I should try to find a recipe I want to make this week and do that. The lilacs are very pretty! Hope you have a good week!

DeleteComfort food is so much better than any fancy shmancy dish. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend. Those puzzles look great. The puzzle I am currently working on is giving me a hard time.. I'm afraid I may be missing a piece.
ReplyDeleteI agree! The trick with a puzzle is move on to a different part if you think a piece is missing. Otherwise the puzzle will take forever because you're focused on finding that one piece. If it's there, it'll turn up.
DeleteA quiet week and an emerald green yard to look on sounds lovely. The puzzles are neat. I hope to get a puzzle going this week now that things have calmed down.

DeleteWe really enjoyed Downton! We were lucky to get an invite to Highclere Castle when we visited London in 2019. Little did we know that the private tour we signed up for would be hosted by The Earle and Lady of the house. It was a bucket list experience for sure!
ReplyDeleteThat is so amazing, Ethan! I would love to visit Highclere Castle! Did the interiors look the same as in the series? I wonder which parts are studio sets and which are actually the castle. I think the library and entry are definitely the castle.
DeleteI love lilacs. My old neighbours had a lovely lilac bush up against our fence, so I always got to pick some, but the new owners cut it down and dug it out. My yard is full of yellow flowers as well. I love your puzzles. My granddaughter and I do them together, but she is only 9, so we do ones with 200 pieces only. I like the sound of that casserole. Yum. My name just came up on the audiobook for Three Days in June, so I will be listening to it next week. I hope you are having a lovely week, Rachel.
ReplyDeleteLilacs are some of my favorites, but we don't even have buds on them yet. I was just visiting my sister in Philly and their trees and flowers are in full bloom. Including the pollen!
