Chicago ALA Event 2013 & Giveaway

Annual ALA Event
Chicago, Illinois

On June 27th, several of us here at Waves of Fiction, including Crystal, Rachel and myself (Arlene) had the pleasure of flying to Chicago to attend the Annual ALA event. For Rachel and I, this is the second opportunity we’ve had to attend this BOOK.HEAVEN event, and it was absolute bliss!! All of the major publishers were on site, and they had a pleasant and informative group of representatives at each booth ready to share information of recent and upcoming releases.

One of the things I look forward to the most is the opportunity to connect with publishers, engage in fun book conversations with other bloggers and book enthusiast, as well as the privilege of coming home with some great releases that aren’t due out until the Fall of 2013, and this event was no exception. The three days went by so quickly because we were having such a great time.

We all arrived on Friday in time for the Exhibitions Grand Opening and stayed until Sunday. And, I have to say one of my favorite parts of the trip was finally getting a chance to meet my book bestie Crystal after FIVE long years of virtual book chatting. We’ve read, blogged and talked together for many years, but this was our first time meeting in person, and we both agreed that we won’t let so much time go by without connecting.

Rachel and I are lucky enough to live in close proximity to each other, so frequenting book events together is always a treat. We all made time for a book club night on Saturday, so imagine our enjoyment of having the opportunity to eat dinner and talk about books for over TWO hours!! Best.Time.Ever!
Sarah Dessen, Tracey Garvis Graves and Julie Ann Walker
At the convention, we were able to meet one our favorite authors Tracey Garvis Graves, which for me was the highlight of the Exhibition Event. In addition, we were able to get our hands on some books, which we’ve been pining for. So let me share with you a sneak peak of some upcoming reviews you’ll see from us.

Covet by Tracey Garvis Graves
