Our flights back to Texas were canceled last Monday so we rescheduled for Sunday, the day before. Of course with all the flight delays we didn't get home until Monday at 3:30am. There were a lot of travelers in the airport trying to reschedule flights or just waiting as their flights were delayed, too. It was a busy place. At any rate, we were glad to be home but it took a while to bounce back from all the shenanigans. At home it's been raining quite a bit, but I'm happy it's not snow. It's definitely a warmer winter than last year.
I ordered a rose online called Brigadoon. I had it in my garden down south and loved it. It smelled wonderful and bloomed a lot. I have a spot where I plan to plant a rose garden in the top of our property in the spring, so I'm starting to make a list of roses to buy. Buying from the garden center is cheaper but I couldn't find Brigadoon at any of the nearby places last year. The yellow rose is another rose I grew and loved, but I can't remember the name!! I thought is was a David Austin English Rose, but now I'm not so sure because all the David Austin's I've looked at don't look like it. It's frustrating.

My Life as a White Trash Zombie-4.5 Stars
I've been hunkering down and trying to get caught up on ARCs. I hadn't had a 5 star read since November so I was thrilled to have two this last week! Two others at 4.5 stars made for a great reading week! I listened to My Life as a White Trash Zombie for Anne's @Books of my Heart read-along straight through today and it was really good! I wanted to start book two right away as they had a teaser for it at the end, but I need to wait a bit.

Wow talk about a nightmarish trip back! You must have been exhausted! The roses are superb Rachel and I love when they have a lovely scent!

DeleteSounds like an exhausting return trip. Makes you even more thankful to be home. Hooray for the 5 star reads! I really enjoyed the Mimi Matthews one. Such a great pairing in that book. :)

DeleteIt's always tricky traveling during the winter (and hurricane season). Glad you eventually got home. The roses are beautiful. You'll be planting them this year? I hope they do well in your garden.

DeleteI'm glad you made it home safely! My parents had a rose bush when I was a kid. It was red. I have no idea what kind it was.

DeleteIt was a bummer, but I was happy to see the kids. It was super cold there! Colder than where I live and it's usually the opposite.
Ugh travel, we haven't been doing it. And generally I love to travel. I'm so happy you were safe and home. It won't help for now but later. Every time I buy something for the garden I keep the receipts in a sheet protector page in a big 3 ring binder, which also has drawings of my garden beds with Sun/Shade schedules and more growing info. I used to keep a Paradox database with info on planting, blooming, fertilizing etc. But people stopped using that software and so I exported it to a spreadsheet. I'm pretty bad about updating that though. I'm thrilled you are having good reading and that you also loved the WTZ! I hope to see you this afternoon.

I've been keeping the name tags for all my plants, and I used to do that down south too, but I bought that rose a long time ago. I should make a document listing everything with location. I may have kept the tag, but I have no idea where I put it. I had a great time with our chat this afternoon!

ReplyDeleteIs the Brigadoon rose a climbing rose? We had a very fragrant climbing rose that looked similar to the Brigadoon. I loved it so much but I've never been able to find out what kind of rose it was.
Thanks, me too, Jenni! I think most of the US had a tough time with travel last week. It's not a climbing rose. It's a hybrid tea. I do have a climbing rose that's really pretty: Aloha. I hope you find the rose!
