About the book: He’s undercover. She’s in over her head. Yoga instructor Kylie Roberts is the good twin. At least she was—until an accident forces Kylie to step into her twin’s sexy stilettos at a posh Hollywood “men’s club." But nothing could've prepared Kylie for the dead body in the club’s parking lot or the ridiculously hot detective who insists the killer is targeting her regulars.  Detective Trevor McCade needs Kylie’s help to draw out the killer. It means long nights undercover and long dances where Kylie’s body tempts him with sensual promises. Dances that leave them both wanting more. But despite Kylie's hidden identity and the danger lurking in the shadows, it’s only a matter of time before Kylie and Trevor take this undercover operation under the covers…

Lover Undercover is a romance packed with sexual tension that will leave you panting, and your heart racing.  Add some mystery, suspense, and a sweet heroic cop and you have an addictive read.  Yes, please!!

Kylie is used to bailing her twin sister, Stacy, out of whatever pickle she’s got herself into since they were young.  She’s the responsible, good twin and her sister is the wild and reckless twin.  This current pickle takes the cake on embarrassing and awkward, though.  Her sister broke her ankle so Kylie has to step into her role as a stripper or both of them have to pack their things, forget their dreams and move on back home to Two Trout, Tennessee, a place they’d both like to forget.  They can’t survive in Los Angeles without the money Stacy rakes in dancing at the high end stripper club, Deuces.

Almost immediately the situation goes from bad to worse when Kylie is thrown in the center of a murder investigation.  This is where the handsome, charismatic, and take charge cop, Trevor comes in.  He’s in charge of this case and enlists the help of Kylie, or Stacy as he thinks, because the victims are Stacy’s exclusive VIP clients.  Kylie has no choice but to cooperate, fearing what will happen if the police or Deuces find out that she’s been impersonating her sister.  Trevor knows things don’t quite add up with “Stacy,” because she’s a mass of contradictions.  Blushing and shy does not describe the usual stripper.  He wants to find out why because of the investigation, but if he’s being totally honest, it’s because Kylie has wedged under his skin.

I have to say I was a little worried about picking this up because the thought of reading about a stripper, and the life that goes along with it is not something I’m attracted to.  Kylie’s role as a stripper is not as cringe-worthy or seedy as it sounded, plus most of her dancing interactions involved Trevor!!  The private lap dances she gave him we’re so filled with sexual tension and steamy build-up, you might need a freezer to stick your panties in after reading!!

He leaned in, trapping her with his body. Inhaling her familiar scent, he said, “You’ve taught me something about myself.”
Into the swelling silence she released a pent-up breath. “What’s that?”
“I like bad girls.” He grazed his teeth along her neck, provoking an aroused little moan from her. “One in particular, I can’t resist. I may have to take you into protective custody.”

Trevor is the all-around perfect hero: protective and sweet, and willing to put it all out there for his feelings.  Kylie on the other hand is guarded after years of seeing her mother’s bad relationships and disappointments.  She’s innocent because she’s kept men at arm’s length, scared of being vulnerable and ending up hurt, but she can’t help her big heart from opening up and caring for Trevor.  Kylie’s heart clenches with worry when their plan to lure the killer out puts Trevor in harms way.

I always love it when my romances have mystery and suspense mixed in.  While I had my suspicions early on regarding the murderer (the hazards of being a long-time mystery reader), it was still exciting seeing how things played out.

I was sucked into the sweet and spicy story!  Kylie and Trevor’s romance both thrilled and warmed my heart! This is the first novel I’ve read by Samanthe Beck, but it won’t be my last.  Crystal read, reviewed and raved about Private Practice, so I plan on picking that up next!
